Healing Philosophy:

I believe that a Naturopathic Doctor begins the healing process by listening to the patient; addressing the root cause of disease; and empowering the patient through education to make decisions about their health care. My philosophy is rooted in science, the healing power of nature, and a belief in the body’s ability to thrive with effective evidence-based interventions.

Background:

I was raised in a small mountain town in Colorado. Both of my parents are healers in their own way. As a Reading Specialist, my mom sought to address learning difficulties with nutrition and non-toxic environments. My father was a lifelong educator and I witnessed how he healed children and families by listening, advocating, and motivating. As a high school freshman, I began the search for a career that emphasized the healing modalities of both my parents.

When I was sixteen, my mother and I visited Bastyr University and the profession of Naturopathic Medicine became my goal. During college, I faced a health issue and learned a lesson about the dynamic connection between what we eat, and how we feel. This stimulated my commitment to the power of mind-body medicine. After my undergraduate, I taught high school math and science at a charter school for pregnant and parenting teens.

Teaching others taught me what it takes to learn and I learned how to be an effective educator. I was then drawn back to health care working in community health where I practiced providing individualized health education and eventually I enrolled in medical school at Bastyr University. After graduation, I completed a two year residency in Family Medicine and worked for five years as a Primary Care Naturopathic Doctor at Leavenworth Family Medicine in Washington State. There, I worked with the full scope of my license.

I am eager to continue providing excellent patient-focused care drawing upon my education and background to provide integrative medical care. Recreationally, I am an active climber, hiker, biker, and skier. I cherish time in nature and strive to embody peak wellness in my personal and professional life.

Accreditation and Licensing

Naturopathic medical schools must be accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). Graduates must pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Exam (NPLEX) to be eligible for licensure.

As of 2025 there are 26 U.S. states and territories that offer licensure for naturopathic doctors. Since Nevada is not a licensed state for naturopathic medicine, Dr. Gresh holds a license in the state of Colorado and Washington.

Naturopathic medical education is comparable to conventional medical school in many aspects:

– Similar biomedical sciences curriculum

– Four-year, graduate-level medical program

– In-residence, hands-on medical training

Additionally, the ND education programs emphasize natural therapies and integrative approaches to health. Below is a chart comparing accredited naturopathic medical school curriculum with conventional medical school and unaccredited natural health training. The numbers below are classroom hours.
